Golden girl: Meryl Streep wowed in a show-stopping metallic gown as she arrived at the Oscars
She is hoping to take home the Best Actress award at tonight’s Oscars.
But Meryl Streep was a golden girl the second she hit the red carpet in a glittering Lanvin frock.
The 62-year-old wore a floor-sweeping gold wraparound dress with a plunging neckline to attend the star-studded ceremony, matching her accessories to her metallic gown.
And as well as wanting to make sure her look was a perfect match, the star decided to pay tribute to the character that could win her an Academy Award at this evening’s ceremony.

After portraying Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, the star paid homage to the former Prime Minister in an unusual way.
She opted to wear a pair of shoes by the politician’s favourite designer, Salvatore Ferragamo.
'Ferragamo was Margaret Thatcher's favourite shoe designer, she wore them all the time', Meryl said on the red carpet .
Her golden gown was part of the eco-friendly green gown campaign organised by Colin Firth's wife Livia.
'I think Mrs Thatcher would have approved, don't you think?’ Meryl told the Mail.

Meryl swept her blonde locks into a simple updo which accentuated her décolletage to complete her red carpet look.
The star is competing in the coveted category against the likes of Michelle Williams for My Week With Marilyn, Rooney Mara for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Viola Davis for The Help and Glenn Close for Albert Nobbs.
She has already scooped a BAFTA and a Golden Globe for her role in the biopic.
