After the Duchess of Cambridge was pictured playing hockey last week, sales of the sporting equipment have soared.
New figures released today by online retailer Littlewoods.com show sales of its hockey equipment have shot up in the past week. The Duchess, a former schoolgirl hockey captain, was photographed hockey-stick in hand following her visit to the Olympic Park in Stratford to meet the Team GB hopefuls, sparking a sales frenzy as fans of the famous royal flocked to mimic their idol.
Littlewoods.com has seen a surge in hockey equipment sales in the past week, with sales of hockey sticks increasing by a massive 238%, shin guards up 114% and even hockey bags sales up 89%.

Gary Kibble, Brand Director at Littlewoods.com said: 'Hockey equipment from our sports section has always sold well at Littlewoods– this has of course always been more modest compared to more mainstream sports such as football, tennis and rugby.
'However, we have noticed a huge spike in sales over the past few days since Kate Middleton was pictured visiting the women's hockey team."
